I’ve Got a Feeling I Know Who is Catering the Christmas Party Next Year

Not sure how the morphine wound up in the cough syrup but I can’t imagine it worked any better than codeine works – not at all. Frankly, I’m convinced that the only thing that works to suppress cough is a steroid like prednisone. Back in 1995 when I was a senior resident I contracted pertussis (whooping cough) and I spent 3 weeks coughing my lungs up 24/7. I was desperate to just get a few hours sleep but nothing helped except 40 mg of prednisone a day. Cough syrup – even ones with codeine in them and lozenges are a joke. The morphine is an interesting angle -you will still be coughing until the cows come home but you probably won’t care!
