Amish Guy In the Running for Freak of the Year

Amish Guy In the Running for Freak of the Year

Don’t get me wrong – I love the Amish. Having spent over 2 decades living in the Philadelphia area I’ve spent many an enjoyable lazy Sunday afternoon wandering through Intercourse or Bird-In-Hand observing and talking with the lovely Amish and Mennonite people with their antique shops and quilting bees, almost like an amateur anthropologist. The shed in my backyard was built by the Amish – the guy that delivered it brought it all the way from Lancaster county. When he showed up at my house one morning, he kept referring to his “mule” and I honestly thought he was talking about a burro or some other kind of beast of burden, but he was talking about a remote-controlled mechanical moving machine. He managed to muscle that 2000 lb shed into place using just his back and a big crowbar (he break off a small piece of the molding and offered to fix it but never did).

So – I get that this Kentucky fried freak,Samuel Borntreger, decided he didn’t want to be married anymore and decided to just kill his 26 year old wife with antifreeze  – we’ve seen this movie 1000 times. But what would possess him to pour battery acid in her rectum?!!! What the heck?!!!

The freak in question.

Some of my favorite episodes of “The Office” are when Dwight takes us back to his beet farm in rural Lancaster, PA and we get to spend some time with Mose, his soft-headed Pennsylvania Dutch cousin. There is a lot of truth in those episodes. Jeez.

Some of the best Mose moments:

Freakin’ love Mose.
