In today’s music scene, where Kurt Cobain just posthumously released a montage of crappy music (not his fault), and everywhere you turn Miley Cyrus is sticking her tongue out at someone else, one can become pretty frustrated with the current state of music. However, just when it feels like all hope has been lost, enter LOW CUT CONNIE to save the day.
Last night I was invited to a rock show at District N9ne (formerly the Starlight Ballroom) and it was easily, hands down, in the top 3 rock shows I have ever been too (and I have definitely been to a few shows). Between their high energy and catchy songs that make you want to get up and dance, their set left me completely amped and wanting more.
I was lucky enough to get to sit on the stage to watch their set, which is an awesome way to hear a band for the first time. I had an absolute blast. Adam, on keys, gets up and stands on his piano bench and dances along while playing, and the guitarists take turns playing the drums.
After the show I got to hang out with their bass player Larry, frontman Adam, and one of the guitarists Daniel. They are all very gracious for their fans and spent time talking to everyone after the show.
I would describe their sound as a soulful love child between the early work of the Black Keys (circa “The Big Come Up”), the Heavy, and Alabama Shakes. I absolutely recommend their latest album “Hi Honey”- I just bought it yesterday and have already listened to it multiple times. I am making my way through the rest of their discography, which I bought right off the bat just because I was so impressed by their show.
