Coroners and medical examiners (MEs) have a tough job. They have to figure out if person died of natural causes or were murdered. It can sometimes be a difficult job. But – its their ONLY job. A coroner or ME has to look at every dead body that comes into the morgue as a possible murder victim. So when a bunch of people from the same family all show up in the morgue after having died under unexplained (some might say mysterious and suspicious) circumstances, you’ve gotta ask yourself that one important question that defines your job. Y’know – you’re only job. “I wonder if this person was murdered?” This one simple question opens up a whole line of follow-up questions like “I wonder how that axe wound up in his skull?” and “Do you think he was born with that letter opener in his neck?” Sure – it means you will probably have to work just a little bit harder, but for crying out loud….step up your game a little!
