So this probably exceedingly polite and mild-mannered Japanese lady admitted to poisoning and killing her husband because she “was treated poorly compared with another women he used to date.” But Chisako Kakehi’s killing spree only ENDED when she fed cyanide to her late husband. It began years earlier and by conservative estimates, included 9 other guys, allowing her to collect about a billion yen (roughly $10 million). 
The only thing that would make this story any more lurid would be if we discovered that Chisako bit their heads off after murdering them.
You would think that after the 2nd or 3rd “Oh my boyfriend? He died suddenly last week. Hey – what are you worth?” conversation, someone would’ve put it together that Chisako was getting creative with the chemicals in the kitchen. How many bachelorette parties does one have to attend for a giggling 60 year old before you look around at the at the Japanese Chippendales and think to yourself “Hmmm, place seems familiar. Wasn’t I here last week at another party for the same old lady?”
Gotta admit some begrudging respect for the old lady. Laughing all the way to gallows. Totally unrepentant. Her lawyers are trying to cook up some dementia-related excuse for absolving her of responsibility for the poisonings but what kind of dementia allows you to act and seem perfectly normal EXCEPT for the unfortunate habit of murdering every guy you contact? a poisoning is not the same kill as another violent assault. Poisoning takes time and care to plan and execute. Don’t tell me that Chisako was ONLY demented during the decade that she was poisoning everyone and ONLY during the times she was actually mixing the cyanide and the rest of the day she was baking cookies and arranging flowers (ikebana in Japanese).
