Last week I spoke about a book called “The Gilded Razor” by Sam Lansky in which the author describes his incredible, voracious, profligate appetite for prescription drugs including Adderall, Ritalin and other amphetamine derivatives. He details the careful preparation he would take to crush up and snort the drugs. He would combine the prescribed drugs with other prescribed opioids like hydromorphone and oxycodone and wash it all down with booze. Eventually he started shooting methamphetamine and things get REALLY out of control. As if the prescription opioid problem wasn’t bad enough – this prescription amphetamine situation is going to spiral WAY out of control and pretty soon the feds are going to be tracking every ‘script that we write, a la Brave New World.
