The brain on the right belongs to a person on LSD.
There is a famous TV commercial from the ’70s in which an actor uses an egg to demonstrate your brain and then cracks the egg in a frying pan and says “This is your brain on drugs.” Powerful message that I remember 40 years later. Some scientists are researching LSD and its effects on the brain and have turned up some pretty cool images. Apparently, when you take LSD and close your eyes, the brain areas that control vision are actually more active than when your eyes are open. That’s probably why the hallucinations are so vivid when tripping on LSD. Different areas of the brain become crazily active communicating with each other, making and destroying chemical transmitters and opening and closing door that perhaps weren’t meant to be opened. Which begs the question – why are the doors there in the first place?
